StickWall™ Step By Step Guide

Surface Preparation

Where StickWall™ can be installed

StickWall™ can be installed directly on;

  1. Tiles
  2. Bricks
  3. Plasterboard
  4. Timber
  5. Plastered Walls
  6. ….And more

The surface must be cleaned, free from oil, dust or other substances that might be detached once panels installed. Remove any wallpaper, flaky painting, varnish, etc… Repair and fill all gaps, holes, uneven surfaces to ensure a suitable, level surface.

Important: StickWall™ installation is NOT recommended in the following environments

  1. The presence of moisture on walls needs to be eliminated prior to installation. After elimination of moisture, you can proceed.
  2. The presence of flaky plaster on wall or badly painted.
  3. Areas continuously exposed to sun or heat source, such as, pipes, heating systems, lightbulbs, limelight, engines, direct sunlight
  4. Areas continuously exposed to vapour such as, engine rooms, sauna, etc.
  5. Any exterior surface exposed to weather changes such as, direct sunlight, rain, snow, extreme coldness (≤ 5 °C) or extreme heat (≤ 40 °C) or temperature changes of 10 °C in less than 1 hour.
  6. Plastic surfaces made of PVC, poly (methyl meth- acrylate) and plastic derivatives (It is necessary to apply a sealing coating first).

Important: Notes

  1. It is recommended for you to order additional panels and reserve at least 10% of panels in a dry, dust and dirt free horizontal position to cover possible future accidental damage.
  2. Do not place heavy objects (clothes racks, lighting fixtures, mirrors etc)s directly on the panel.
  3. For fixing fittings , (shelves etc) drill in such a way that fastening accessories, such as screws, reach the supporting, rear wall on which the StickWall™ is installed to allow for adequate suppor t of the fitting.
To ensure a long lifespan, StickWall™ is very adhesive, be sure to have correct panel location prior to pressing in place. Once pressed in place, the panel cannot be relocated, it can only be removed andreplaced.

Easy Installation Guide

Important: StickWall™ panels must be removed from its packaging and placed horizontally (flat) where the panels are going to be installed 48 hours prior to installation.

Stage 1

Remove any nails, protruding objects and ensure the surafce is clean, smooth and flat.

Stage 2

Clean the wall thoroughly and apply surface preparation if necessary.

Stage 3

Measure the wall carefully and draw pencil lines to locate the panels as required, (vertically and horizontally) using a spirit level, on all the walls of the room (as required), marking the wall and repeat the procedure.

Stage 4

Apply a small qty of the recommended adhesive to at least 50% of the holes, making sure you apply in all corners and along the edges. Failure to do so will void your warranty.

Stage 5

Carefully remove only the brown protective film layer from the panel.

Stage 6

Firmly stick the panel. Press it down – and it’s all done. To ensure a long lifespan, StickWallTM is very adhesive, be sure to have correct panel location prior to pressing in place. Once pressed in place, the panel cannot be relocated, it can only be removed and replaced.

Stage 7

Continue to measure and mark the panels in the centre, or edge as required to ensure you are installing evenly. Lay the next/adjacent panel in the same manner.

Stage 8

To lay the lower panel, measure the centre of the panel and make a small pencil mark. Fix the panel in place using the previous guidelines. Follow the same procedure with additional panel. Install the rest of the panels on the wall following the previous guidelines.

Stage 9

When you reach the edge of the wall, measure the distance from the last panel to the wall and mark how much of the panel to cut.

If panels need cutting, measure, mark and safely cut both sides of the excess panel with a sharp blade and stick the panel. To complete a clean cut, you may need to use the blade once, or twice and sandpaper the cut edge for a great finish.

Be sure to protect the work surface where you are cutting.

If using a sharp blade, break the panel into pieces by pressing from the centre out to the opposite edges of the piece and sandpaper the cut edge for a great finish.

To ensure a long lifespan, StickWall™ is very adhesive, be sure to have correct panel location prior to pressing in place. Once pressed in place, the panel cannot be relocated, it can only be removed and replaced.

1. Clean the surface

Clean the surface thoroughly and ensure no dirt or grease is present.

2. Apply sealant silicone

Apply sealant silicone around the perimeter of each panel before its installation.

3.Remove excess

Remove the excess silicone with the finger.

Wet Area / Trim Installation Guide

  1. Ensure there is no moisture on any surface and clean the whole area to ensure it is free of dust and grease.
  2. Add a small line of transparent silicone to the whole perimeter of your StickWall Installation.
  3. Insert spacers at the bottom of the wall to accommodate your trim, before installing the first StickWall Panel.
  4. After installing your spacers, ensure they are level and then proceed to install your first StickWall panel
  5. After installing each StickWall Panel, be sure to add a small line of silicone around the perimeter to seal.
  6. Once the correct panel height on the wall has been achieved. Use the multi-functional trim (equal angle) and add silicone to both sides of the trim to ensure an effective seal.
  7. Once the silicone has been applied, install the multi-functional trim, (equal angle) to the wall.
  8. Repeat the process with the transitional trim, ensuring an effective seal and then remove the spacers and press into place.
  9. After pressing the transitional trim into place, run a line of silicone between the floor and the trim to ensure an effective seal
  10. For the perfect finish, seal the whole perimeter around your StickWall Installation with silicone.
  11. Trim Note;
For the correct use of trims, we have used a multi-functional trim (equal angle) for the vertical, 90 degrees joint between any change of direction in the walls, and a transitional trim for the horizontal joint between the wall and the floor.
The equal angle and transitional trim are both available at your local Bunnings Warehouse.

Install liberal amounts of silicone around the perimeter of each panel, to make sure you do it right first time.

Kitchen Installation

StickWall™ is fine to be installed in kitchens that have induction and electric cooktops, as long as installation is accordance with the installation guidelines.

For Gas Stoves or Open Flame Appliances Only. If you are to install StickWall™ near a gas stove or open flame cooking appliance, a minimum clearance of 200mm is recommended by standard AS/NZS 5601 from the periphery of the nearest gas burner and if installing within 200mm, an approved guard needs to be used to protect the vertical surface.
